Brick Repair

RESTORATION| BRICK REPAIR

Brick repair refers to the process of fixing damaged or deteriorated bricks on a structure. The most common types of brick damage include cracking, spalling, and mortar joint failure.

Cracking occurs when a brick is subjected to excessive stress and develops a crack on its surface. This type of damage can be repaired by filling the crack with a flexible mortar or epoxy.

Spalling occurs when the surface of a brick begins to flake or peel. This type of damage is typically caused by moisture penetration and freeze-thaw cycles. Spalled bricks can be repaired by removing the damaged surface and replacing it with new mortar.

Mortar joint failure occurs when the mortar between bricks begins to deteriorate, leaving gaps and allowing water to penetrate the structure. This type of damage can be repaired by removing the old mortar and replacing it with new mortar.

It’s important to note that not all brick repairs are the same, and different types of damage may require different methods of repair. In addition, it is recommended to use a professional bricklayer or mason to repair the brick, to ensure the job is done correctly and with the right materials.
